Throughout our college careers neither Ryan nor I had ever experienced a "Spring Break Vacation". Our senior year we decided to take our first trip alone together. We packed up his CR-V, woke up early, and drove all day to Mrytle Beach, South Carolina. The following evening we wanted to have a "fancy date night". So we got gussied up and went out on the town. After glimpsing the SkyWheel on the beach we decided to check it out later that night. Since it was late March, the town was relatively quiet- there was only one other couple in line with us! Luckily the gondolas were enclosed because it was very chilly! We got our picture taken in front of the greenscreen and then climbed into our seats. The wheel started to turn and up we went. The color changing LED lights lit up the structure, a beautiful contrast against the dark night sky. After a bit of peering out around us, Ryan grabbed my hand and began recalling beautiful things about me, how much he loves me, how we have grown together as a couple, and how he pictured our future. We have always been extremely open with each other so I knew that a proposal was not far off and had suspicions that tonight was THE night. I could tell he was nervous. Although I didn't say anything I couldn't keep from smiling. The longer he spoke the more I knew what was coming next... Finally he got down on one knee, popped the question, and I said "YES!" The ring he picked was beautiful and unquestionably perfect. After hugging, kissing, crying, snapping some pictures, and staring at the ring our ride had ended. We climbed out and immediately were congratulated by the SkyWheel staff. "We saw you looking at the ring," they said. After picking up some souveniours from the gift shop we continued our date with a romantic dinner. It was the perfect evening. Our proposal was beautiful, simple, and heartfelt- all traits we hope to bring to our upcoming wedding.
